CORE VALUES AT WORK IN COUNTY CARLOW VEC


TEAMWORK:
 
Encourage staff to be clear on their own role and on collective responsibility to achieve success through the VEC team.  Encourages and supports others in pursuit of VEC goals.
 
CO-OPERATION:
Works well with others to achieve a common aim and works to establish common ground providing support where possible.
 
LEADERSHIP:
Promotes behaviour that is in the best interests of the VEC, its staff and customers at all times.  Motivates and encourages others to take ownership of the VEC objectives and promotes a shared vision of the future.
 
PARTICIPATION:
Welcome all staff to actively make their contribution to the service delivery of the VEC.  Each person at every level in the organisation is encouraged to participate.
 
CUSTOMER CENTRED:
Recognises that customers are the purpose of the VEC's existence and approaches every initiative with their interests in mind.

A local VEC Partnership Working Group was established by each Vocational Education Committee to implement the Partnership process and the requirements of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness in each Vocational Education Committee in accordance with the guidelines and suggestions of the V.E.C. National partnership Forum.
Co. Carlow VEC's Local Working Group is now focussing on the implementation of the specific priority measures/initiatives for each commitment to be achieved during the lifetime of TOWARDS 2016.

  • New Technology and Legislative Change

  • Service Delivery

  • Shared Services

  • Attendance Patterns and Customer Service

National Award for Carlow VEC

Co. Carlow VEC received a National Partnership Forum award for ‘Partnership in Action’ in 2008 at the National Partnership Forum’s annual conference in Thomond Park, Limerick, on December 2nd.  Carlow VEC came first in this category out of sixteen shortlisted entrants.  The award was accepted on behalf of Co. Carlow VEC by Linda O’Brien Joint Chair of the Local Partnership Working Group.  The NPF was founded to develop a partnership culture to ensure the modernisation and development of the VEC sector for our customers in VECs throughout the country.

Former Chief Executive Officer of Co. Carlow VEC, Laurence Kavanagh, described this as ‘…a great recognition of the ongoing work in Carlow VEC to improve upon its services…’ and commended all involved.
